ABSTRACT. The subject of the research is the historical and geographical aspect of studying the features of the manifestation and degree of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) influence on social processes in the Philippines. The purpose of the research is to use the example of the Roman Catholic Church of the Philippines to identify the role of the predominant religious institution in the country in functioning of the social sphere dating back to the period of its inception within the territory under consideration. The article examines the manifestations of the social functions of religious organizations (on the example of the Philippines RCC) both at the national and regional levels. The history of the spread of Catholicism in the Philippines has more than 500 years. Over this time, a unique model for the functioning of the confessional space has been formed in the Asia-Pacific region, in which the RCC of the Philippines plays an important role in ensuring the social well-being and spiritual development of the Filipino people. The research made it possible to identify the role of the RCC in the implementation of important social activities, which consists in overcoming the problems of the country’s public sphere and promoting its further development. That is, the RCC is one of the institutions that provide significant support to the state in the implementation of the main directions of social policy, responding to the needs of modern society. The Philippines is a unique example of a country not only for the Asia-Pacific region, but also for the world, where many social manifestations of the population’s life are still based on the value orientations, ritual and dogma of the Roman Catholic Church, which date back to the period of its inception within the territory under consideration and never stopped.
